I truly love it when I get to work with kids and teens. I incorporate more play and art therapy to help them to learn about their emotions, work with them on creating tools to help manage them, and learn how to express them in a healthy way through nonverbal communication.
However, if I have kiddos in my office, expect that you, the parent or caregiver, will be in there as well. I only get to see kids once a week for 50 minutes. The real magic happens when the skills can also be implemented at home.
Each circumstance is different, but I highly encourage older kids, (aka teenagers) that including parents/caregivers that ultimately benefit them to have you invovled. I get that with some teens just need a space to dump their stuff out and I get it. But my goal is for parents to eventually become that space and that is something we will work on in sessions.
I will see kids as young as age 9. I am unable to give anyone a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD.
